Cyral

A cloud data-security startup had sophisticated technology but no brand and no product interface. In two months I designed the identity, the web application, and the mobile app, and helped them raise their first round.

Helped raise $3M+
The problem
Cyral had powerful data-security technology but nothing to show for it: no brand, no interface. They needed both, built fast, for a crucial funding round.
What I did
In two months I designed the Parliament brand identity, the web application for monitoring the data layer, and the Wrappers mobile app.
The outcome
The UI helped Cyral raise over $3M, and set the visual foundation for what became a notable name in cloud data security.
The challenge

A brand and a working product, in two months

Cyral could secure data in the cloud, but investors and customers could not see it. The job was to design a full, intuitive interface, and a brand to carry it, that made a complex security product obvious in a demo, without compromising quality under a tight deadline and a looming funding round.

Scope 01

Brand identity

A visual language and guidelines that made a serious security product feel approachable.

Scope 02

Web application

The dashboard for monitoring wrappers, response times, alerts, and diagnostics.

Scope 03

Mobile app

A companion app for wrapper status at a glance, on the go.

Scope 04

Investor-ready

Everything polished and deployed in time for the pitch and funding round.

Brand · Identity

A mark as trustworthy as the technology

Cyral needed an identity as considered as its security. I designed a minimal owl, wise and watchful, built on a geometric grid, and delivered it as a full standards system: clear-space rules, a five-color palette, and Open Sans type, so the brand held together from the product to the pitch deck.

The product · Web app

Watching the data layer, in real time

Cyral’s technology places wrappers between applications and databases to inspect and log every data request as it happens. The dashboard had to make that legible at a glance: which wrappers are up, how fast they respond, and which are down and need attention, so a security team could act in seconds.

Information architecture

One product, mapped end to end

Before the screens, I mapped the whole product: dashboard, performance, delivery, security, account, and configuration, each with its own analytics and alerts, so a technical user always knew where they were.

Mobile

Wrapper status, on the go

A companion mobile app put the essentials in a pocket: wrappers active, inactive, and an overload warning when traffic spikes, plus collectors, suggestions, and a triage list of what to debug, with one-tap install.

Process

Fast, but not rushed

01

Wireframe & prototype

Mapped layout and flow, iterating quickly on feedback.

02

User-centric design

Clear navigation, intuitive interactions, responsive layouts.

03

Core features

The Data Source Wrapper and App Agent interfaces for real-time inspection.

04

Test & optimize

Usability testing, with logging kept async so performance held.

05

Ship for the pitch

Polished, on-brand, and deployed for the investor presentation.

Results

A brand and a product that raised the round

$3M+
raised after the redesign, with the new UI central to the pitch.

Positive reception

Users and stakeholders praised the interface as intuitive and easy to use, exactly what a demo needs.

Market presence

A polished, professional brand and product helped establish Cyral as a credible player in cloud data security.

Design earns trust before the product does

For a pre-funding startup, the interface is the proof. A clear, confident UI let investors see the value the technology promised.

Approachable beats intimidating

A friendly, confident brand made a serious security product feel human. Personality, used well, is a business asset, not a distraction.
